There are all sorts of horror stories about women being treated horribly by employers during their maternity leave. Mine is different. When I was on leave (granted part of it was unpaid because the corporation I worked for didn’t have any policy) my supervisor (who happens to be a woman) went to bat for me repeatedly, including helping me negotiate a raise and promotion AND a reduced schedule all while I was on leave. She was an amazing support for me professionally and recognized that by helping me have more personal time I’d be a stronger worker. -D, 36
